Hmmmmm...
How much money would I get, like closer to a million or a
billion dollars? I'd rather have a billion if possible but
I'd probably settle for a million. I like money because you
can buy things like toilet paper with it. I would also like
to buy a bank and a tank.

Which one of my amateur organized sound failures did 'Anne
Laplantine' like?

I don't understand how having no apparent business model
would make the label successful, given that labels are
usually associated with marketing. Unless the label's
business model is profiting off of other people's work
without compensating them. Or maybe its more like a site
that hosts free mp3s, and not really a 'label'.
I searched 'anne laplantine' in google and amazon and there
was a fair amount of matches and some stuff for sale. But I
don't know if you are who you say you are. I've never heard
of anne laplantine until this thread, and this thread pretty
much confuses me. I don't want to change the title to ice
cream cones. I was just stating that I like them off topic.

w M w, I like your music, I want people to hear it.
Yes the label is kind of free mp3 site. If you read the
description, it tells everything.
It involves no money.
And yes, some people sell my records and make money
with. They do what they want.
I want people to hear your music. How can we do?

I'd love it if anne laplantie went on Dragons Den;

"So you want our money for what?"

"Other peoples' pleasure- I want to give them music for
free, cos I like music"

"Okay... So when would we see a return?"

"You ll have nothing in
return. Is that ok?"

viral potential than I think and I should make youtubes for
each crappy song, but put titles and keywords like "credit

possible to get into the youtube partner program without

Aww, that's cute and whimsical. Here's an mp3 version of
it:
LAZY_TITLE

You can play .it files in modplug tracker (I still use and
prefer version 1.16.0194. The new open source version has
messed up sound as far as I can figure out.)

Hmm.. I'd probably need to make my own muppets or something
to make videos because youtube requires 'original content',
at least for their ad program. Donations is an interesting
idea. Kind of like panhandling on the internet.

If you enjoyed this text, please send me 5$.

[13:48][anne laplantine] yo
[13:49][anne laplantine] i don't think i know what i'm

[13:50][anne laplantine] if i knew, i wouldn't do

[13:50][fabien poree] : )
[13:50][fabien poree] yeah i saw that
[13:50][anne laplantine] maybe my mother knows but not me
[13:50][fabien poree] but i know what he means, i'm the same
i think
[13:50][fabien poree] well not so much with you, because i
kind of know how you do it
[13:51][fabien poree] but sometimes i still wonder
[13:51][fabien poree] same for video game music
[13:51][fabien poree] i've already told you i think, i
really wonder how they do it and i'd love to be able to do
the same
[13:51][anne laplantine] no but he thinks that in order to
make very stable music, like video game music, you must know
the structure beforehand
[13:51][anne laplantine] when in fact we can search for
hours
[13:51][fabien poree] i know i know
[13:51][fabien poree] it's my problem too i noticed
[13:51][fabien poree] when we hear the finished thing, we
don't hear the construction process, it seems completely
effortless
[13:51][anne laplantine] but it's great that there are
scratches, they can be very keen, and funny
[13:53][anne laplantine] but i'm also impressed by clear-cut
tracks
[13:53][anne laplantine] hits
[13:53][fabien poree] but still some people do it with ease
[13:53][fabien poree] i mean, they know how chords work and
all
[13:54][anne laplantine] you think i know?
[13:54][fabien poree] no, i can kind of see how you do it
[13:54][fabien poree] but i believe you've absorbed a lot of
things anyway, i think, with practicing piano and all
[13:54][anne laplantine] yes maybe
[13:55][anne laplantine] but that doesn 't stop me from
taking hours looking for two notes that can go together to
make a chord
[13:55][anne laplantine] it's mathematics
[13:55][fabien poree] yes : )
[13:55][fabien poree] yes
[13:56][fabien poree] maybe you should tell some of that

[13:56][fabien poree] maybe you should tell some of that to
w M w, i really don't think he's fishing for compliments,
it's like me
[13:56][fabien poree] he's just flabbergasted by it
[13:56][fabien poree] it's like a magic trick, it's, wow,
how do you do this
[13:57][anne laplantine] well of course
[13:56][anne laplantine] i don't know how to tell him in
english, i don't think in english anymore
[13:56][anne laplantine] can you translate the conversation
for him?

I think brains are very powerful 'tools'. For example, its
fairly easy for me to spontaneously hum a melody in my head.
I'm certainly no singer but can translate this into my
voice. It is quite hard for me to translate this into .it
(modplug/impulse tracker) data though. Like, in my head, its
easy to very quickly know whether a pitch is 'right'
relative to other pitches.. but when entering notes into a
computer I'm very inaccurate (I can easily mistake a note F
for a note C or something).
So for those tracks, I recorded my voice humming "hmmmmm"
and made sure that was in note c. Then I used that single
hum sound to compose everything. That made it much easier to
accurately compare what was in my head to the modplug data.
So for those tracks, I generally hummed whatever was in my
head; whatever 'sounded good'. Like I could hum one melody
line, then while that is set in stone, can hum companion
melody lines to go with it etc.
Usually I also have separate 'chords' too (some tracks start
with the chords first, others start with humming first). For
this section, I pretty much only use 3 or 4 keys that are
every other white key: for example c/e/g(and optionally b)
or d/f/a(and optionally c) etc.
Also I used typical music 'scales'. Which seems weird to me
(instead of 12 notes, remove 5 to only have 7 notes..), but
whatever, I guess I imitated that from culture. And I only
use the white keys to make things much easier for me. This
means I only have 2 'scales' (which are basically the same
thing it seems...): a minor (a,b,c,d,e,f,g,a) or c major
(c,d,e,f,g,a,b,c). My humming seems to always match those
white key notes so maybe I just got used to only using those
notes (not c# or f# etc).
But people who actually understand 'music theory' don't seem
to do it that way. Like sonic the hedgehog tracks often use
black notes amongst white ones that never make sense to me
according to any scale.
